Sailboats more than 25'

Vagabond 26 on the Water The Vagabond 26 is quite the craft and, in my mind, fits into a class of classic wooden boats. It is a picture perfect site on the water. You will need to keep that in mind as you are building it! This isn't the boat for the first time builder. With the larger boats, it becomes very difficult to use a basket mold so it is recommended in the plans that you use a jig. One thing you might notice about this boat is that it has an extremely shallow draft. Personally, I believe a shallow draft is preferred. Though it might roll a little bit more on the water, it is less likely to have it's hull broken in rough seas. Many people have sailed around the world several times on shallow draft boats.Vagabond 26 Hull and Cabin View Specifically, this boat is a shallow draft keel hull design and the boat designer does a great job explaining the advantages of the shallow draft. Besides safety in rough seas, the shallow draft is easier to build and can be taken to more places where around the world. This sailboat can also be fitted with a 15 hp motor but a 6 hp works just fine. This boat can be outfitted nicely with a galley, 76" of headroom, and a head, 68" of head room. The head is vented located in the cockpit backrest. Behind the head, there is a storage room used to pump out the tank. There is room for a 40 black water tank behind the head and there is room for a 17 gallon fresh water tank in the galley. As for engine, using an outboard engine will open up the aft cabin to a double but you will lose some onboard fuel capacity. If you go with the diesel engine, you have a 20 gallon tank available and the aft cabin becomes a single. This is really personal preference but should be decided on what you will do with the boat. One option obviously opens up your cabin while the other eliminates the need for constant refueling.  Take look below at the specifications for this boat. We love it!
