Sail Boats

Sailboats have been part of history for thousands of years. Sails helped Egyptians sail the Red Sea as early as 4000 BC. It's an extremely functional and efficient means of travel when considering the energy consumption. Sailing is certainly not the most direct route but it has helped facilitate trade throughout the Mediterranean Sea in ancient times (2000 BC). It got Christopher Columbus across the Atlantic in 1492. Sailing was an essential part of travel and trade until the discovery of the steam engine. In modern times, sailing is recreational more then done out of need. It's a hobby but it is one of my favorite ways to travel. If you really want to feel like you're part of sea and the wind, sailing is for you. It's tremendously peaceful. The night skies are more clear than anything you'll see on land. Sailing is one of the most peaceful activities in the world. Learning to build a sailboat is something I would certainly love to do which is exactly why I've been looking at some of the sailboat plans that are on the market. I can't wait to take my own sailboat and sail it around the world (or at least the Caribbean!). We've separated the sailboat plans into three categories. Just click on the size of boat you are interested in building to learn more!
