Rowboats

All of the boats below can be built as rowboats or used with an outboard engine (making them power boats). Many people outfit these boats with both. It's nice to have the functionality of a power boat and a row boat. You simply have to mount the outboard and the oarlocks to the gunwale. I think it's great to have a row boat to get in a little exercise but also to be able to get where you're going in a hurry if the need arises. One of the advantages to a rowboat over the canoes and kayaks is just that; the ability to mount an outboard engine which makes the boat plans for a rowboat a little more dynamic! So, many people use these boats as rowboats for exercise or simply as a back-up plan to their outboard motor because you just never know!
