The Prameke 8 is the same basic boat whether it is a sailboat, a powerboat or a row boat. It really just depend"s on what you want to build. In the pictures, you can see that you can finish the boat in fiberglass or keep the wooden finish. The wider frame gives it nice stability in the water. To build the Prameke, you'll need two 1/4 inch sheets of plywood (4ft x 8ft) and 1.5 sheets of 3/8" plywood. The epoxy resin needed is less than 2 gallons and it needs about 50 yards of woven tape for fiberglass. The boat can built for around $250. It's makes a very nice day boat which can be used for rowing and excercise. There's more than enough room for a tackle box, cooler and fishing pole for a nice relaxing day on the water. Most likely, as a rowboat, you'll use the Prameke with the rear facing method of rowing (which is the oldest system). You'll set up the oarlocks on the gunwhale. There are newer systems out there, however, that allow you to row facing front. The obvious appeal is that you can see where you are going! In any case, rowing is great excercise and a lot of fun. The world is always a little more quiet when I'm on the water. With a row boat, there are no engines and no extraneous noises. It's just you the breeze off the water and the sounds of the waves slapping against the boat. If you've decided to build a row boat, just click through because the plans for the Prameke are very well done.
