Dinghies are simply small boats referred to as a "dinghy" in the singular form. Dinghies are often smaller boats that are hoisted on or mounted alongside a larger vessel. Dinghies can take the form of row boats, sailboats or power boats. As sailboats, dinghies are a small class of sailboat and are even raced in the Olympics. The Olympic class of Dinghy is known as the Optimist. "Power boat" dinghies simply use outboard motors. To outfit a dinghy as a rowboat, simply add some oar locks to the boat's gunwhale.
